Mental Wellbeing

At Shirley Manor Primary Academy, we create a positive mental wellbeing culture in school, where children build resilience, self-esteem and character. Grounded in positive psychology and neuroscience, our whole-school approach uses trusted resources from SCARF, ClassDojo and 2BeSafe, to develop resilient, confident, independent children who understand how to keep mentally healthy.

We have embedded teaching about mental wellbeing across our curriculum, as well as through specific events such as Children’s Mental Health Day, to teach our children the skills and knowledge they need to develop their self-regulation and successfully support their mental wellbeing.

Help at home

There are a number of resources which school has on offer to support mental wellbeing for children at home. These can be requested at any time from the school office and are shared via ClassDojo and parent events throughout the year. They help with a wide range of topics, such as online safety and wellbeing, sleep, EBSA and much more.
